PLEASE NOTE: DUE TO THE COLD WEATHER THERE HAVE BEEN MANY FAMILIES THAT HAVE CANCELED. THE EVENT IS STILL RUNNING, BUT WE WILL NOT HAVE A CATCHING JOY GROUP. IF YOU WOULD STILL LIKE TO VOLUNTEER, YOU CAN CONTACT THE FRANKLIIN PARK COALITON DIRECTLY OR JUST SHOW UP. SAVE THE DATE: MAY 8, 2010, 10AM, SPRING CLEAN UP DATE AT THE FRANKLIN PARK. 1/29/2010

Join Catching Joy as we participate in the Franklin Park Winter Volunteer Day on Sat., Jan. 30, 2010, from 10AM-12PM. Meeet at Valley Gates, midway along the main park road. This event is geared for children ages 5+ and their families and other adults. Help save native oaks from a crippling invasive vine. You’ll be liberating trees to restore Boston’s historic 200 acre forest. Wear layers and leave shiny nylon parkas at home, as they can be torn by branches and thorns. Gloves with a leather palm or glove liners are helpful. The coalition will have work gloves for those who need them and plenty of hot chocolate! Youth, church and neighborhood groups are welcome. Please RSVP at and call or visit their website for more info. and directions. www.franklinparkcoalition.org or 617-442-4141. If you would like to volunteer with Catching Joy, please email by Wed., 1/27, so I can give the coalition the number of people volunteering from our group.
